if I get suckered into reading another damn fic with Ed and Winry in it and Winry ends up pregnant! >.< Jesus Holy Freakin' Christ people! Is it really impossible to write a God-blessed fic with the two of them in it WITHOUT this happening?!? Is this ALL that Winry is good for? to be Ed's fucking broodmare? I don't even like Winry all that much not at all but even I'M pissed that this is the best she can do in a fic! GAH! Shame on you, het writers, every last damn one of you. One, for being completely unoriginal in your writing and two, for reducing a perfectly good character to little more than a bitch in heat. :p

Well, initially I had skimmed thru (i.e. read the first sentence of maybe every third paragraph or so of) littlechemist01's November because there was a posting of the story's epilogue in my f-list so I was curious what it was about. At its core in the beginning, it was a decent storyline but once Ed and Winry were together it went downhill. I mean, really? Did I really need to read about her "glistening wet folds" when they had sex? Was it absolutely necessary to have a whole chapter about her having her period? ugh. And of course at the end she ended up pregnant. blecch. I really wouldn't have paid it any more attention than the passing glance I gave it until I read one of today's entries on fma_fic_contest, One Spring Morning. The whole point of that fic was that Winry was pregnant and I was like, "Again?!?" *headdesk, repeatedly* I have only read a tiny handful of het fics and Winry almost always ends up pregnant. People claim all the time what a great character Winry is but all she seems to ever do is get knocked up. It makes me wonder if that's all that het fans want out of their OTP's, to see them making babies. If so, I'll stick with yaoi thank you very much! :) I'd much rather see Roy and Ed going at it like rabbits anytime anywhere than to have to read about Winry's feminine hygiene problems. :p

Well, that does sound dreadful. I think they favor the Winry-gets-preggers storylines because they see that as the natural progression of their pairing. I myself don't read NC-17 het because [shudders] I'm *not* interested in reading about "glistening wet folds." I don't care if I have 'em - I still don't want to see 'em...

I asked because a really good friend of mine just finished a Ed-and-Winry-have-a-baby story - that wasn't bad, really - and I didn't think she'd posted it yet. But if she had and you'd reacted so badly... Well, I wouldn't have told her, but I'd want to know.

And no, it wasn't her.

Now, go read some good yaoi (have you seen the latest chapters of Punch Up? on yaoi_daily? (Yummmmmm....)) and wash those images from your mind. (And really, a whole chapter on her period. Sheesh!)

Your friend is safe, from me anyway! ^_^ As long as a fic is labeled as EdWin and not just the two of them listed along with a string of other characters, I stay far away. Normally I wouldn't touch an EdWin fic with a ten foot pole but sometimes curiosity gets the better of me and I end up getting dragged into a mess like this. I think the insult to injury part of this fic was that the girl desperately needed a beta - typos and sentences fragments galore! Oh my poor head! *is ded* :)

Well, to be fair, a lot of the Roy/Ed fics are the same too, so it's really no different. Like mpreg: The gate added in something! Or what does that array do to the body. same with genderswitch. There are very few original story ideas because so many take their own twist on something that is done. Like all the remakes Hollywood does >_>

True, a lot of it follows the same basic premise but at least the world isn't overrun with mpregs (thank God!). :) Most mpregs aren't even halfway believable no matter how much you suspend reality. :) I absolutely refuse to read genderswitch. *gags* The girl had a really good storyline to start off with. She just muddied it up with lots of "glistening" *shudders* EdWin sex and the inevitable baby-makes-three-and-they-lived-happily-ever-after shtick. :p

As in the same ole same ole fanfic cliches. Like Ed coming back from Beyond the Gate, mpregs and gendersitches which I mentioned. Or (NO OPFFENSE CHERYL) high school teacher/student!Roy/ student!Ed. Or chimera fics Or AL dies and Roy comforts ed. You said it's all this same old Ed/Winry pregnancy fis, but my point is, well I love ed/roy, but many fics have the same premise, just different words. Like the Ed/WIn ones. Pretty much all popular pairings do. Rare ones, not so much, but the popular ones? They all have millions of fics with the same cliches, baby, death, whatever is popular for the fandom

In my defense, I didn't even realize that was a common theme. If I'd known that before I started writing it, I probably wouldn't have. But then again, I love that story, so fuck it. ;-)

I don't mind cliche, but the concept of mpreg itself is what astounds me, and why this whole need for pregnancy seems to only exist in yaoi? Unless there's gpreg out there where women mysteriously get knocked up, too...?

And to finish my point, because I'm totally ADD, was that I didn't see the diff between all that mpreg in yaoi and regular preg in het fic, other than that at least het fic makes sense. Lame sense, cuz I'd rather jab my eye out than read about Ed and Winry procreating, but still: sense.

Why did I read a het fic? Because I'm an idiot and once I started reading the fic, I kinda wanted to know where this particular train wreck was going so I just rode it to the end. :) Normally I avoid het at all cost but the story didn't start off that way. It was a CoS-verse fic. With the two of them in seperate worlds, who would've thought it could happen? *sigh* Alas it did. Alchemy courtesy of an OC saves/ruins the day. :p

I've only seen adoption come up in one fic. I think winds_of_water wrote it. The only reason nomdeplume13's fic is a good mpreg is because Ed used alchemy to save Roy and Riza's babies after she gets shot. He used some complicated bit of medical alchemy to transfer the babies to himself but he pays the price for his snap decision - hormone pills, hormone injections, plus all the other "joys" that come with being pregnant. :) Personally I'd prefer my boys to remain childless. That way they can have all the wild kinky sex they want whenever wherever they want! \o/

Aargh. I feel your pain. Winry is not my favourite character either, but hello, writers? She's an automail mechaninc, well on her way to becoming a successful business woman. Furthermore, for manga readers, having a baby while she's still working through her apprenticeship would be a bit of an upset, so I'm pretty sure she'd have the common sense to USE PROTECTION, so that she doesn't end up as a single mother while doing the FMA equivalent of playing college loans.

Furthermore, for mpreg, unless there's an extremely good justification for it, I don't wanna see it.

If the chapter about Winry's period is any indication, they have everything then that we have now. I guess Ed has such an amazingly awesome cock that common sense flies out the window and Winry can't help but give it up whenever Ed wants it. *gags* Oh, I forgot this part until just now (probably because it was so WTF) but apparently Ed's little soldier is magic too because in the fic they have sex not long after Winry gets brutally raped and somehow she's OK with it, encouraging even. ??O_o?? the hell?!? LOL ... nah its just I mean there are ONLY so many ways to make Ed pg and yeah and I am not bashing anyone but nom's mpreg is VERY good but I wanted to come up with my own way of how Ed did become pg.

Its just geez it gets a bad rap mpreg and really if you don't like a pairing or something then don't read it ... its like the evolution people think you HAVE to get married and HAVE to HAVE kids. I just did it as an mpreg because I was asked to YEARS ago when I started the fic.

Even Cheryl admitted that I broke her cherry because she actually liked the chapter she read when I rewrote Chapter 22 ... I mean I KNOW I am NOT a popular writer and I don't write for that reason but man when you hear the horrors its like maybe I'll just keep it to my LJ only, lol! BUT since I restarted Moth's I have gained geez a minimum of 20 new readers that HAD to be friended to read the rest of the fiction.

Just been into writing some Scar/Ed for a change, because I got a bunny but the theatre is keeping me uber busy so I have to polish up Moth's current chapter to post and I will post it, lol! It was like damn everyone just ganged up on the post O_O ... that's all I meant by it ^^;
