Fullmetal Alchemist is ending...
May. 6th, 2010 11:26 pm...and my heart is breaking. T_T Just read this post - http://community.livejournal.com/fm_alchemist/6820626.html - and damn I'm depressed right now. ;_; It's ending people! Can you believe it?? Soon there will be no more new manga, no more new anime. Soon the fandom will go quiet and people will start to drift away. Sure there will be a great deal of , well, I can't even begin to imagine what will happen when the last episode airs but all too soon all that excitement will fade. It just seems so hard to believe it's over. *sigh* I didn't think I was living in quite this much denial but reality has a way of biting you in the ass really hard when you're not looking. Sundays (or Mondays or Tuesdays depending on when the subs come out) just won't be the same without FMA to look forward to anymore. FMA has been in here *points to heart* for so long that I can't imagine it not being there. Now, I don't plan to ever leave the fandom for a very long time. I'm as tenacious as a terrier when it comes to something near and dear to my heart but even so, it just won't be the same when one day I look around and realize that the story has been told and whatever I have (mangas, DVDs, etc) is all there is ever going to be. *wibbles* Excuse me. If anybody needs me, I'll be in a corner

Date: 2010-05-07 06:36 am (UTC)I just hope that fma as a fandom will be as awesome as Gundam... so that even fifteen years after it aired there will still be new fans and lots of fandom *crosses fingers* It certainly does more than deserve it *sighs*

Date: 2010-05-08 01:25 am (UTC)I do think FMA will be around in some form or fashion for a long time to come. There will be people cosplaying it and, with any luck *says a quick prayer*, lots of fic yet to come! (Hell at this point I'd settle for some of the unfinished fics I've read to be finished! XD) FMA has carved a niche for itself in the anime conciousness that will stand the test of time! <333

Date: 2010-05-08 01:34 am (UTC)I'm pretty sure there will be lots of fics for a lot of time to come (though I agree with some fics that will hopefully still get finished >.< *doesn't like unfinished ff's at ALL* >.<). At the very least I can promise you that I won't vanish from the fandom anytime soon :P XD

Date: 2010-05-07 11:05 am (UTC)Well, any series has to end sooner or later, right? It just reminds me of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles, which had been on-going for about...30 years, I think, until the publication of its last installment.
I'd known of FMA through

Date: 2010-05-08 02:17 am (UTC)I was thinking about FMA ending earlier today and it dawned on me that of all the fandoms I've been in, none of them had anywhere near the impact on me that FMA has. It was kind of a weird revelation to have. :) Gravitation, Yami no Matsuei, Saiyuki, Rurouni Kenshin, Sukisho, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc etc. For all of these, when their manga and/or anime series came to an end, it was a disappointment but nothing to get all upset about. FMA? pish! I damn near cried like a baby while I was reading that post in the comm! :) I've got an addiction that nothing can cure and I love it! XD

Date: 2010-05-07 05:31 pm (UTC)Bloody winged: "Can you imagine fma just being one of 'those' series?" - o_O That was evil.
The conclusion of the manga will be bittersweet. Love and loss and all that stuff...

Date: 2010-05-08 01:36 am (UTC)Maybe, but still true ^^;; FMA is too awesome to have that happening to it

Date: 2010-05-08 01:57 am (UTC):) It wasn't evil really, not when you know what she was referring to. Bloody was referring to series like Bleach and Dragon Ball (ESPECIALLY Dragon Ball!) that went on and on and on with no apparent end in sight. They became so repetitive and pointless that you got to the point where you were just begging for it to end! Such a fate should never befall our beloved FMA! :) <333
Speaking of "thinking of what the cow has in store for us", I can only hope and pray (I'm ready to beg if need be! XD) that she brings everything to a happy ending. That said, let us not forget that the cow quite happily ran Ed thru with a steel beam back in Briggs so I don't have total faith that the cow will give all our heroes happy endings. (She should tho! They've more than earned it! *pouts*) I want Ed, Al, and Roy all to be restored. Anything else, I'll find a way to deal with it. Man, now I'm even MORE anxious about the ending! :)

Date: 2010-05-08 02:55 am (UTC)I really do want Roy to get his eyesight back even if it's only in one eye. *glances at eyepatch Roy plushie! :)* I'm sticking with Al being restored because that's been the whole point of Ed's mission all along and it'd be a HUGE letdown if that didn't happen. I'm cool with Ed keeping the automail since it is so much a part of who he is now. :) Survival for all of them is critical to me too now that you've pointed it out! ^_^ They all gotta come out of this alive or I will be severely pissed! If I see even a hint of someone pulling a self sacrificing move *glares at Hohenheim*, I will become irate! :)

Date: 2010-05-08 03:13 am (UTC)I really would love for him to see again too, though I confess to having a certain fascination with him being blind ^^;; (Prolly due to that thrice-damned Big Bang fic that I wrote XD) I doubt he will only get his eyesight on one eye back though - either both or neither. While he looks hot with that eyepatch, it doesn't fit the current story. The only way I can imagine THAT fitting in would be him getting his eyesight back and father hurting one of his eyes (or it getting damaged by all the shoving around he has to endure right now ^^;; poor roy XD)

Date: 2010-05-08 11:20 am (UTC)Ed would go out helping people and ruin his automail in the process. Winry would scald him and fix it. Ed would go out helping people...
It would be an eternal cycle of helping and getting scalded for it. Not what Ed deserves.
