Live action FMA??

*sigh* I found this on cheezburger the other day and was really hoping it was an April Fool's joke. Since it's still up, this just might be legit. I kinda hope not. Live action anime (DBZ anyone?) is never a good idea. :(

Date: 2016-04-14 03:56 am (UTC)The thing that gets me is how can the producers, or whoever, hope to pull this off with Japanese actors playing roles that are clearly 'not' Japanese. As someone
a trollat cheezburger pointed out, how would you tell the Amestrians from the Xingese? *amused eye roll* Gotta love trolls! :)Also, there are a lot of blondes in FMA - Ed, Al, Winry, Riza, Havoc, etc. - and as far as my limited understanding of Japan goes, blonde hair is in rather short supply over there. (a screech from offstage 'Who's so short he could walk under an ant?!?' is heard. Oh dear, I was hoping he wouldn't hear that. ^_~)
Ed would be the biggest problem I think. Ed's hair AND eyes? Yeah sure, you can slap a wig and some contacts on somebody but would that really be enough? Ed has such a distinct personality and bearing that even with all the proper window dressing (wig and contacts) in place, portraying him correctly would be very difficult. I just know that one wrong move and some long-time die-hard fans would rip the poor actor to shreds for it. To me it seems like there are a lot of ways this could go so horribly wrong. :/

Date: 2016-04-14 04:24 am (UTC)There's a ton that could go wrong. I'm just not willing to work myself up when we still have so little information. And honestly, after Brotherhood fell short (and Mylos even shorter), I'm just sort of "eh" about the thought of another version not living up. Even if it ends up being the worst of the lot, I feel more like "here we go again" rather than "oh noes they'll ruin it!!" I mean, I'll still have a manga and an anime and movie and half-ish of a second anime I adore, those aren't going to be "ruined" by a bad live action movie.
