FMA fanart - Direct Order by Contraltissimo

Roy and Riza fanart isn't my normal thing (I know you're shocked, f-list ^_^) but I happened across this one and it's like whoa. Even with no actual dialogue, it says a lot. Really speaks for itself. It's sort of an alt ending to Brohood. I'm curious to know what anyone else thinks of this. :)

Oh how different FMA:B woulda been had this happened! When I first saw this, I was all "whoa! mind is blown!", then I realized how in poor taste it woulda been to use that for an LJ cut and decided against it. Best to just not go there. :/

So, what'd'ya think? I have my opinion, what's yours? Would the ending have been better, worse, or no change at all?

Does she off herself afterwards? (I can't really tell if it's implied here or not). If not, and she found some measure of identity that did not revolve around Roy, then fine. If so, then meh.

That's the thing that always rubbed me the wrong way about Riza, which is unfortunate because she had the potential to be a wonderful, strong character. But her readiness to kill herself over Roy was always nauseating to me, and in no way, shape, or form, romantic.

My first impression was that she did kill herself but since she's wearing her uniform and not her bloodied civilian clothes when she said that, I'm not so sure. Canon definitely made it seem like she'd turn the gun on herself immediately after shooting Roy but since she obviously didn't, she's either not as suicidal as Canon would have us believe or she's straight up lied to Roy about suicide to more or less keep him in line as he wouldn't want her to die for no reason. Maybe the artist just wanted to mess with our heads and make us create our own ending for this piece. Maybe that "Right behind you, Colonel" means she's following in his footsteps to become Fuhrer and change things like Roy wanted to. Anything's possible.
